thisisrumour asked: whoah bessie, sit down a second. i grew up with X-Files, ive been to maybe 20 different conventions covering sci-fi/paranormal shows, im a big fan of many shows cultivating that genre. most of that statement was sarcastic, i dont think they are ripping it off, it just seems a bit similar in main theme and storyline and its seems to be popping up alongside many shows of similar ideas. I just feel like a lot of programmes are jumping on the same bandwagon, like last year with vampire shows.

haha, sorry for getting really bitey. I’ve just seen so many SPN fans saying those things AND MEANING IT, and I didn’t get the tone of sarcasm, I just saw someone else carrying on about how Grimm is “trying to be” Supernatural etc when really, once you look past the very broad general premise, they’re set up very, very differently. Of course I’m definitely biased because I love Grimm, but I’m also a big fan of genre and tropes, so it’s starting to grate a bit when so many SPN fans are saying this stupid stuff.

The bandwagon thing is definitely true, but it always has been in the world of TV/movies. XD
