… Mine. Had to say it. :c
I love them, but sometimes I just want to scream APPRECIATE YOUR BLUTBAD BRO, NICK. LOOK WHAT HE DOES FOR YOU EVERY EPISODE, LOOK AT YOUR LIFE, LOOK AT YOUR CHOICES. Say thank you maybe, and do something nice for him and give him belly rubs.

I agree with this sooo much. Like, I’m actually getting a little tired of watching Grimm on account of the complete lack of empathy Nick feels for anything that Munroe is going through. Their relationship is one that really should be very powerful and endearing, seeing as it is one of the main factors of the plot, but… seriously, especially the last few episodes I’ve felt have bordered on abuse, with Munroe being beaten up and assaulted and being forced to kill (given his previous character establishment, watching him go against his peaceful, yuppie lifestyle to kill someone has been one of the most heartbreaking moments in the series thus far) on Nick’s behalf, and the latter actually has the gall to act as if Monroe is majorly putting him out somehow just by pointing out that being “friends” with Nick is very likely going to get him murdered.
Seriously, if the angle of this relationship doesn’t change very soon, screw this show.

This morning is apparently my argue with people on the internet day this week.
First, I definitely think Nick is taking Monroe for granted. He’s taking Juliette’s presence kind of for granted at this point too, and he needs to wise up and take care of both of them. He’s so focused on being a detective and a Grimm that he’s not meeting either of them halfway, and he should be. I assume this is going to be a thing later on, because we can already see things tipping towards a breaking point in both cases.
I could address the fact that you compare Monroe and Nick’s relationship to an abusive one, but that would take a lot of time, so I’ll just say are you seriously conflating their interactions with abuse?
What I will address though, is this:
“being forced to kill (given his previous character establishment, watching him go against his peaceful, yuppie lifestyle to kill someone has been one of the most heartbreaking moments in the series thus far) on Nick’s behalf”
because I’ve seen similar things said a few times now and I really have to wonder if we’re watching the same show.
Monroe has killed before. He says so himself.
He is reformed and does not kill indiscriminately anymore, and is cautious about losing control, but there is absolutely no evidence that he is not okay with killing when necessary. In fact, quite the opposite.
Stark was a vile creature, and Monroe knew this. He killed a true monster of the Grimm world, someone who basically spits in the face of the peaceful co-existence Monroe is trying to eke out.
Nick NEVER asked Monroe to do it. Nick asked Monroe to give the gun to Hank. When Monroe couldn’t do this, he CHOSE to set up the gun himself and take the shot.
Monroe certainly doesn’t express any conflict or remorse over killing Stark.
Monroe helps Nick willingly. Nick never forces him. Monroe is definitely more than capable of telling Nick where to go if he wanted to. Nick even said that he wouldn’t ask Monroe for help any more after the Reapers beat him up, he didn’t want to endanger him, but MONROE was the one who said screw that and invited Nick to call on him whenever he needs.
